Games Development
As part of a unit designed to teach some basic aspects in games development and design, the project required elements of a game to be presented as a group. Working with a group on a project that was engaging and had many people capable of producing high quality work was an incredible experience. Everyone was focused towards the same goal and the final result ended up being quite fun.
After initial concepts were pitched, a few were chosen and groups were decided. The premise for the game was a simulation game taking on the role of a homeless man with a twin brother who is a rich man. They were separated at birth and by chance the homeless man discovers his brother’s whereabouts and decides to steal his life.
The game progresses with the journey from homelessness to rich-list and as part of the presentation it was decided to show a ‘customise your character screen’, a mini-game where you have to balance while you’re drunk (something that has popped up in the new GTA IV game) and a simple illustration to show what the interface for the user would look like.
